Don't settle for less than amazing mixes ever again!

Are you tired of seeing mixing courses where the raw tracks sound better than your final mix? Me too! The songs in all those courses were recorded by the best musicians in the best studios with the best equipment by the best engineers. In a perfect world, we'd all be working on those kinds of tracks, but for most of us, that's not the case! Many of us are recording in our home studios which might not have the best acoustics, and we don't all own tens of thousands of dollars worth of mics and super high-end instruments.

I remember buying courses when I first started out, excited to see how they got things to sound so good, only to have them say something like "the drums came to me sounding really great, so I didn't have to do much" or "the guitar tones they got while tracking were perfect, so I didn't even have to touch them."

That's why I created Fix It In The Mix. I want to show you that you can create amazing mixes even if your raw tracks are far from ideal. To do this, I went back and re-mixed a song from the very first band I ever recorded in my first home studio. I was not an experienced engineer at the time, and my studio was far from impressive.

The song in this course was recorded here:

No

No Neumann mics or Neve consoles here! All I had was my laptop, a pair of entry-level monitors, a handful of inexpensive mics, and a cheap interface. As you can imagine, the raw tracks were pretty rough!

But even with raw tracks like these, there are plenty of techniques we can use to transform them into a pro-sounding mix!

In this course, I'll show you every single step I took to transform this song, and more importantly, explain exactly why I did what I did. Ultimately, you're going to be working with different tracks with different problems and challenges, so by understanding the thinking behind each move, you'll better understand how to apply these techniques to your tracks and your mix.

You’ll learn:

-How to get huge, punchy drums

-How to use drum samples for extra impact while still maintaining a natural sound

-How to deal with bleed in your drum tracks

-How to create a fake room sound when you don't have room mics

-How to balance your low end

-How to use EQ and compression on various sources

-How and when to use multi-band compression

-How to use parallel compression

-How to use master-bus processing

-How to master your own mixes

-And much, much more!

Bonuses:

In addition to the course, you’ll receive:

-Multitracks so you can follow along and test out your new skills

About Me

DSC04565.jpg

Hey! My name is Mike Dwyer, and I’m a full time audio engineer from Upstate NY. I’ve been fortunate to work with some amazing artists including Shawn Mendes, The Lumineers, Vance Joy, Jade Bird, Bob Weir (The Grateful Dead), and Glen Matlock (The Sex Pistols), and to work with and learn from some of the greatest engineers of our time including Joe Blaney (The Clash, Modest Mouse, The Ramones), Ryan Hewitt (Blink 182, Lady Gaga, Red Hot Chili Peppers), Mario McNulty (David Bowie, Fall Out Boy, Prince), and Neil Dorfsman (Bruce Springsteen, Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney).

I understand that most people don't get such amazing opportunities to learn their craft. Audio schools are extremely expensive and really only teach the basics, and many people have responsibilities that keep them from taking an unpaid internship position at a high-end recording studio, not to mention the fact that there are fewer and fewer big studios every year. And even then, it takes years to learn in this way. If you're lucky enough to be in the room with the engineer while they're mixing, they won't have the time to explain every single thing they're doing.

That's why I created this course, to share my knowledge with engineers who don’t have the same opportunities I had. So if you want to improve your mixing skills, get better clients, and start making a living doing what you love, I'm here to help.
